Salt and Pepper Egg Tofu 


  • 2 packages of Mulan egg tofu 

  • 1 egg 

  • 5 tbsp corn flour 

  • 3 small red peppers, diced 

  • 2 small green peppers, diced 

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic 

  • 1/4 tsp shichimi powder 

  • 1/4 tsp salt and pepper

  • Slice egg tofu into 1.5 inch thick slices.  

  • Beat 1 egg and coat tofu pieces evenly. 

  • Pour a cup of vegetable oil into an 8-inch pan. Heat oil over medium flame until just boiling. 

  • Put 5 tablespoons of corn flour onto a large plate. Add tofu and coat with the flour. Pan fry the tofu slices on all sides until golden brown. 

  • Fry chopped garlic in 1 tablespoon of oil on medium-low heat. Add diced green and red peppers, fry a few minutes more, then turn off the heat. 

  • Sprinkle fried tofu with garlic, green and red peppers, salt, pepper and chili powder.
